Puny Astronaut is looking for a talented Junior Character Artist to join our team in sunny Dundee!
This is an exciting opportunity for a Character Artist looking for a dynamic role with lots of variety. You will have the chance to make a significant impact on our debut title, Skye, and all other projects you work on.
You will be working with a creative and driven team in a highly encouraging and supportive environment.
You will be working with the Art Director and art team to produce 3D game-ready characters and creatures in a consistent style and level of quality.
You will also be working with the Technical Artist and programming team to ensure character models are well optimised to meet technical requirements.
Excellent sculpting ability in Zbrush or similar.
Strong ability to retopologize with an understanding of good edge flow.
Strong experience in rigging a variety of creatures and characters in Maya LT or equivalent.
Strong experience in the creation of textures and baking of high poly meshes in tools such as Substance.
A critical eye for creature and character designs in games and other media
Ability to self-critique, iterate, and make decisions on how to improve your work
Great communication skills, can respond well to direction, and can contribute to team discussions
Good time management and ability to self-direct workflow when necessary
Icing on Top
Comfortable with Unreal Engine 4 and the character pipeline.
Experience with source control software such as Github/Gitkraken
Experience in creating character concept art.
Educated to a degree level or equivalent in Digital Art.
